These gardens aim for beauty and a sense of airiness and pest resistance, all with a minimum of fuss and labour. The front beds include a rock garden of golden and purple oreganos, creeping thyme and sedums, May Night and Victoria salvias, as well as beds of taller species such as sea holly, shasta daisies, Bright Light cosmos, Baby's Breath and Echinacea. The highlight of the back garden is the aviary containing Asian plum-head and Indian ring-neck parrots, and South American green-cheek conures. Circling the aviary are several sunny beds with White Swan echinacea, bergamot, feverfew and galardia, as well as shady beds containing ferns and hostas. Click on photos to enlarge.
